Snuggled in the central east part of the city of Montreal, St. Leonard’s neighbors are Ville d’Anjou to the east while to its north is the borough of Montreal North. It was amalgamated into the greater city of Montreal in 2002. The town saw a large construction boon in the 1970’s and 80’s especially along its border with Ville d’Anjou. Commercial and residential developments flourished and many luxurious condominiums can be found throughout the district.

A large influx of Italian immigrants settled in St. Leonard and their influence and contribution to the community has been immense. To say that its residents love sports is an understatement. With at least 30 tennis courts, 30 bocce courts, 15 outdoor rinks, 14 soccer fields, 5 baseball fields, 5 outdoor pools, arenas etc., yes, they definitely love sports. They also love condominiums with over 7000 condos available in the region. It’s a virtual cornucopia of condos.

The area is also rich in green space with many parks and recreation centers. Many of its schools are also in close proximity to the parks. This was not by coincidence, but was brought about by careful planning by the municipal body. It’s just another plus for condominium residents as well. Condos can be found all over the city and in every kind of size and style.

There are all kinds of food courts, cafes and shopping all over the place. Jean Talon Street is a major artery in the city of Montreal and passes right through the heart of little Italy. Its many stores, cafes, boutiques and restaurants reverberate with the sights, sounds and smells of all things Italian. You’ll find everything from beautiful Italian marble to exquisite furniture. Dining is superb and you can eat pasta the way real Italians prefer it, al dente. The famous Jean Talon market with its abundance of fresh produce and food products is not far away.  It’s bellisima!

Shopping is fantastic with many fine shops, shopping centers (Les Galeries Langelier, Les Galeries d’Anjou etc.) and malls throughout. Condo residents will be in their glory by all the selection of goods available to them at just a stones throw away.

Transportation is excellent with bus service throughout the region making it easy for condo owners to travel the city. There is train service at the Parc Extension terminal and the subway system is within easy reach of most bus lines. Taxis are also available with stands at various places and the main thoroughfare autoroute called the Metropolitan passes right through the center of St. Leonard and will take you wherever you wish to go on or off the Island of Montreal.

One of the best cultural facilities in the area is the Leonardo Da Vinci Centre. It offers its services in three languages English, French and Italian. Its building houses theatres, gyms, bocce courts and a café. There is also a large selection of entertainment venues such as cinemas and clubs throughout the community as well as the easy access to all that Montreal has to offer. A condominium owner couldn’t ask for more.
